Warwick District Council has been awarded a grant by the SITA Trust to carry out improvement work within the park, following a recommendation by a local resident.
The aim is to make the area more attractive to residents and visitors. As part of the grant application, ideas for the improvement of the park were made. This does mean that we need to follow the items identified in the application which have already been approved.
The improvements we are looking at are as follows:
- To remove the old tarmac pad where the basketball hoop once stood. This will allow the path to go through the site and create more space for new play equipment.
- To create a footpath through the site linking Highcroft Crescent to Ridgewood Close. This would allow park users to safely access all the site and link into the play equipment.
- To create a more attractive and varied play area. This would involve the removal of the seesaw, slide and the old wooden unit, replacing them with something more interesting for younger children. We would be like to know what items you would like to see. These will be in the areas roughly highlighted in red in the plan below.
- To improve the existing footpath across the site in front of the railings (this wasn’t in the application).
In addition we are looking at the following general changes throughout the site
- Improved signage to make site more welcoming
- Potentially install a bench
- Improve existing bins on site and install more bins
Friends of Group
We are very keen to develop ‘friends of’ group for this park in order to increase community involvement. This is also a very good way of gaining extra management of the park and it provides a good way of drawing in extra funding through bids of grant money. Please indicate on the survey form if you are interested in being part of the friends of group.
The survey
The survey closed on 22nd August 2016. The aim is to start the work October 2016.
