Landlord Steering Group

This is chaired by an experienced private landlord. Members include Warwick District Council representatives, local landlords, letting agents, the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA) and Warwick University accommodation providers.

Our main aim is to establish an effective partnership between the local authority and those involved in letting property locally in the Private Rented Sector (PRS).

We respond to local and national consultation documents, liaise with district council departments and share information and experience with the wider PRS community. This includes areas such as legislation, codes of practice and legal guidance on housing related issues, property safety standards and management practices. Training, promoting and improving the image of the PRS is achieved through newsletters and Landlord Forums.

Local PRS stakeholders can comment and raise issues for the LSG to consider, by completing a feedback form after attending a Landlord Forum.

Testimonial

Joining the Landlord Steering Group has been a really positive experience. It’s about action as well as discussion. Members get the chance to make a real impact and work alongside others who share the same challenges and interests.

Between our three annual meetings, there are plenty of opportunities to stay involved, from writing newsletter articles, volunteering at the twice-yearly landlord forums, to taking on roles such as Communications Lead, Technology Lead or Letting Agent Liaison. It keeps things active and rewarding.

The group has already influenced changes that matter to landlords, such as suggesting updates to HMO licence conditions, better online landlord guidance and feedback on issues like student lettings, waste and recycling and the Council’s private landlord offer. We also receive regular housing updates, which are invaluable.

If you want to share experiences, make connections and have a voice in local housing matters, I would highly recommend getting involved.
