Work starts on 23rd January for 3 weeks

In 2017 our Green Spaces Team will continue with their ambitious programme to improve and develop more of the district’s 170 parks and open spaces.

January will see the start of work to install a new play area and an extension of the footpaths in Villiers Street Recreation Ground in Leamington. The scheme is a result of consultation with local residents and will offer play equipment for a wider range of ages than previously. There will also be significant tree work, not only to improve the health of the trees in the spinneys and boundaries, but to open up the views and improve the feeling of safety for users of the grounds. Access for local residents will be enhanced with the extension of the current footpath and by adding two further paths.

Starting on the 23rd January the play area will be closed off for three weeks. The site will then be completely closed for two weeks in February for the footpath work.

Warwick District Council’s portfolio holder for Green Spaces David Shilton said "I am very pleased to see the start of this much needed improvement programme for Villiers Street, which will give the local community a safe and accessible open space that everyone can enjoy."
