Summer 2023

Arts Project Grants

Secret City Arts

Secret City Arts delivered six creative events, including immersive storytelling, tea-tasting, and nature journaling, engaging 57 participants across priority areas in Warwick District. Held in Foundry Wood and Packmores Community Garden, the project supported mental health and wellbeing through sensory, nature-based arts experiences. One participant shared, “I had not been in a good place that day, but the message I wrote was just what I needed to read later.” Another described the storytelling as so relaxing they “gently drifted off to sleep.” The project empowered participants to return as volunteers and will continue through Arts Council funding.

Live Well & Dance with Parkinson's

Delivered by People Dancing, this project provided 10 weekly dance sessions and 3 taster classes for people living with Parkinson’s in Cubbington, engaging 90 participants. Despite venue changes, the programme successfully reached its target community and created meaningful impact. Participants reported improved flexibility, balance, confidence, and social connection. One said, “I feel exhilarated after each class,” while another shared, “It awakens memories… I felt like I was part of the day.” Carers also benefited, finding support and joy through shared movement. The project now seeks funding to continue this vital, creative community resource.

Arts Development Grant

Warwickshire Singers

The Arts Development Grant supported a period of real organisational growth for Warwickshire Singers. Membership increased by 30%, new stipend roles helped strengthen their lower voice sections, and their Musical Director gained professional development through mentoring by Bob Chilcott—leading to further appointments and the founding of a new choral group. The choir expanded its repertoire with diverse and contemporary composers and began planning for more ambitious programming, including orchestral collaborations and international exchange. This grant also gave them the confidence to pursue additional funding and deepen community partnerships, laying the groundwork for future artistic and organisational sustainability.
