Arts Development Grant

Lucy Tomlinslucy

Pangaea Sculptors' Centre is a platform supporting contemporary sculptors and fostering technical excellence. Their development, sought to explore the potential for opportunities to bring more sculpture and sculpture-related programming to the district; researching and designing potential ideas that were site/context-specific, realistic, relevant and wanted.

Lucy said, "the flexibility within the structure of the award, to enable the outcomes to be developed from the process of research, alongside the support received from within the Council, have made this an extremely generative and positive experience. The potential impact of this award is far reaching and ongoing".

The Mini Movers project, funded by Warwick District Council, delivered 24 weekly dance and movement classes for children aged 0-5 and their carers at Lillington Children and Family Centre. Reaching over 360 participants, the sessions promoted physical activity, creativity, and social connection. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive-100% of respondents reported learning new skills and wanting to continue. Highlights included use of props, music, and collaborative play. Some children progressed to independent classes. The project reduced isolation, supported early development, and is now continuing at Motionhouse's Leamington studio due to its success.

This project supported arts workshops for older adults and a refugee family group in Kenilworth. Over 73 participants took part in activities such as painting, collage, and movement, themed around celebration. Sessions improved wellbeing, social connection, and skill development. A joint showcase brought both groups together for art sharing and interaction. Two volunteers supported delivery.
