The Residential Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) was initially adopted in June 2018 and re-adopted on 30 June 2026.
The SPD sets out design principles for residential development, from whole estates to the extension of an existing home and for conversations. It seeks to promote high-quality and innovative design, sensitive to and in keeping with the area in which it is located.
Following a Cabinet decision on 10 July 2024, a 7-week public consultation was undertaken between 23 April 2025 and 11 June 2025 on specific minor changes to the SPD that was initially adopted in June 2018.
