Warwick District Council previously identified that Othello Avenue play area and public open space had scored below average for quality in an open space audit. For this reason, funding has been set aside for improvements to the area.
The main objective of the project is to provide an improved open space for local people whilst at the same time delivering the Council's wider aspirations to make Warwick District a great place to live, work and visit. It will also aim to meet the many recommendations as set out in the Green Space Strategy for Warwick District.
The outcomes of the project will be to:
- Play Area Improvements – improve existing play equipment to offer a wider range of facilities for all ages and abilities
- Create a welcoming Park - improving the open space to make it an attractive place to visit and enjoyable for local people
- Improve signage where needed, especially directional signage to link Ophelia Avenue play area with other play areas within walking or cycling distance
- Improve the local biodiversity of the open space
