Warwick District Council has identified that your local park which we call Redland Rec. has scored average for quality in an open space audit, for this reason funding has been set aside for improvements to the area.
Our Green Space Development Team has come up with some ideas listed below and the aim is to make the area more attractive to residents and visitors.
The improvements we are looking at are as follows. Numbers listed are shown on the plan of Redland Rec (some items are in multiple locations):
- New playground items: Retain items of acceptable condition, install new items to cater for a wider age group and offer a higher play value.
- Footpath improvements: Improve existing footpaths through the site and install some new footpaths to increase accessibility to and through the site and bring equal access for all.
- Selected thinning of the trees in spinney areas and boundaries: To allow certain species of trees room to develop and improve sight lines through the park.
- Hedge laying: To improve sight lines and make the park more welcoming.
- Meadow areas: Improvement through relaying and introducing different species of flowers to the area.
- Improve entrances: Widen footpaths, tidy vegetation and introduce signage. Improve the security of the gate at Spa View end, potentially a height restriction gate with a lock box over any padlock.
- New football goals and change of pitch position.
- New tree planting: Suggested apples trees
- Boundary vegetation: Thin out boundary vegetation and trees to improve sight lines into and through the park to increase site security and feel of safety.
- Proposed introduction of communal garden area, potentially edible gardens.
- Interpretation panel for meadow area and new signage at entrances and play area.
General improvements across the site
- The installation of new bins, benches and wild flower mixes into boundaries.
- The Introduction of outdoor gym equipment in order to offer fitness options, and increased recreation activities for older youths and adults.

Friends of Group
We are very keen to develop a friends of group for this park in order to have community involvement. This is also a very good way of extra management of the park with aid in the direction of future development, also it provides a good way of drawing in extra funding through bids of grant money. Please indicate on the survey form if you are interested in being part of the friends of group.
