How we will do this

Decarbonising Council buildings

• Produce a Heat Decarbonisation Plan (HDP) to decarbonise all Council buildings
• Establish a Building Decarbonisation Fund to do this
• All electricity used by the Councils to come from renewable sources
• Offset any residual carbon emissions from buildings after 2025 by investing in energy generation projects or a local carbon offsetting fund

Carbon savings - 3251.14 tonnes CO2e per year

Decarbonising Council travel

• All Council vehicles fully electric by 2025
• Incentivise staff to travel sustainably where possible
• Incentivise staff to switch to electric vehicles if using their car for business
• Review electric vehicle charging infrastructure at Council buildings
• Offset any residual carbon emissions from travel after 2025 by investing in energy generation projects or a local carbon offsetting fund

Decarbonising Council contracts

• All new major Council contracts to have a Carbon Reduction Plan and demonstrate progress towards net zero by 2030
• Work with existing contractors to ensure they are minimising carbon emissions
• Ensure procurement process has climate change mitigation built into the tendering specifications

• Review funds in which the Council’s hold their cash and divest from all fossil fuels - achieved
