The new booking system will be introduced on Tuesday 26 April and will apply to both tennis and basketball players who want to use the facilities.

In partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Warwick District Council is introducing a new online booking and gate access system at the Christchurch Gardens (Beauchamp Square Gardens) tennis and basketball courts in Royal Leamington Spa, enabling players to book ahead to reserve a court.

These changes have been made in response to requests for a more organised set-up and a guaranteed slot to make them more accessible to the local community.

To book the courts, players will need to complete a free registration with the LTA's Rally platform by visiting the Clubspark website to set up an account. Once registered users select their preferred date and time to play, they will be emailed a gate access code to gain entry.

Cllr Liam Bartlett, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Tourism and Leisure, said:

"The new booking system at Christchurch Gardens will mean residents can pre-book their court, avoiding any disappointment of the courts already being in use on their arrival. This will enable tennis and basketball players to guarantee a slot and compete against their friends and family."

Anna Hart, Parks Investment Delivery Partner at the LTA, said:

"It is great that a new gate access system will be introduced at Christchurch Gardens later this month.

"Alongside LTA Rally, it helps to overcome what we know is one of the biggest barriers people experience in wanting to play tennis in easily finding and booking a court.

"We hope the new systems will encourage more and more people in the community to get active through tennis, regardless of their age, background, ability or disability."

Players who are unable to book online will be able to ring 01789 260980 to book their court.

The basketball court at Christchurch Gardens will be out of action on Monday 25 April, to allow for the installation of the new gate.
