Latest information on the £150 energy rebate.

Following the government’s announcement that most households in England in Council Tax Bands A to D will receive a £150 energy rebate payment, Warwick and Stratford on Avon District Councils are putting all necessary procedures in place to ensure that those who are eligible receive their one-off payment well ahead of the September deadline.

The Councils’ Revenues team who are administering the scheme expect the majority of households who pay by Direct Debit to start receiving their payment directly into their bank accounts during April and May. Eligible residents who do not pay by Direct Debit will be contacted with the necessary information to make their claim for the rebate.

Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Homes, Health and Wellbeing Councillor Jan Matecki commented:

“We fully appreciate that many households in our District are struggling financially with spiralling fuel bills and inflation. At very short notice our teams are going the extra mile to ensure that these payments are made as quickly as possible to those who are eligible, whilst making sure all the necessary checks are in place to prevent fraudulent claims.”

“In addition to this we will shortly be announcing a discretionary scheme for residents who do not qualify under the terms of the rebate but are facing difficulties in paying their bills.”

“We would ask residents to keep looking at the Council websites for further updates in the next few weeks. There is no need for anyone to contact the Council at this stage.”

Stratford on Avon District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Homes, Health and Wellbeing Councillor Jo Barker added:

“We know many households will be facing economic hardship in the months ahead and the energy rebate schemes are recognition of that.  It’s important that residents know help is available, and that they get their rebate fast. That’s why we are urging people to set up a direct debit for their Council Tax, this will help us get the payment to you as quickly as possible.”
