Warwick District Council is seeking a creative practitioner to work with young people aged 11-16 to create five pop-up art installations reflecting how the pandemic has affected their wellbeing.

Working with schools and youth groups across the district, the creative practitioner will facilitate the creation of 50 flags made by young people in a series of workshops.

The flags will be designed to reflect the effects that the pandemic has had on them and what their hopes and ambitions are for the future. The event will be supported with information provided to young people about art and health services in Warwick District which they can access.

The roving pop-up installation will see the flags placed on poles in a circle for people to wander through, enjoying the designs and allowing them to reflect, too.Child walking through a series of decorated flags in a park

Councillor Judy Falp, Cabinet member for Community Protection, said: “We understand the impact that the pandemic has had on our young people, and how art can be a creative and therapeutic way for them to express not only their feelings about the past couple of years, but also their ambitions for the future.

“I would encourage creative practitioners in the district to apply for this fantastic opportunity to help our young people express their feelings and inspire others to reflect.”

The appointed practitioner will be responsible for coordinating the design, creation, and construction of the installation, with a project fee of £8,300 to assist with associated costs.

Applications are open now with a closing date of Monday 7 February 2022.
