Eng v Aus para bowls teams Published: Friday, 19th July 2019

Following the success of the England cricket team in the world cup semi-final, this weekend it is the turn of England’s bowlers to pitch themselves against visiting Australian national teams.

The Australian bowls and para bowls teams arrived in Leamington last Monday for some early preparation at Victoria Park for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. During their two week visit they have been playing home nation teams from Ireland, Scotland and England.

This weekend’s fixtures against England will mirror the format of the Commonwealth Games where unlike the Olympics the para matches will be fully integrated into main Lawn Bowls competition.

Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Culture, Cllr Moira-Ann Grainger commented;

 “As we start our ‘3 years to go’ countdown to the Commonwealth Games we are very pleased to once again welcome Bowls Australia to Victoria Park and hope the teams are enjoying some exciting, yet friendly competition.  Entry to Victoria Park is free this weekend for anyone wanting to watch some high class international matches.”
