More than 800kg of material has been diverted from landfill since they were installed in June.

The bins have been installed in high footfall areas including Parade in Royal Leamington Spa, Market Place in Warwick, Abbey End in Kenilworth and Acre Close in Whitnash.

Previously, all waste was placed in standard litter bins, meaning recyclable materials often became contaminated and could not be recycled.

All recyclable material collected from the new bins is sent to Sherbourne Recycling, the state-of-the-art materials recycling facility that Warwick District Council is partnered with.

So far 14 bins have been installed, with plans for more to be available across the district.

Councillor Will Roberts, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood said:

"These dual recycling and litter bins make it easier than ever for people to recycle when they're out and about. Whether you're enjoying a day in the town centre, visiting one of our parks, or commuting to work, you now have the opportunity to recycle on the go and help reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill."
