Warwick District Council and Royal Leamington Spa Town Council are asking residents to nominate an individual or group that they feel has made an exceptional contribution to the town, for them to take the stage on Sunday 15 November 2026 to switch on the Christmas lights with the Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa, Councillor Sarah Boad.

Nominations can be submitted online and will close on Sunday 11 October 2026. The Mayor will review the submissions with the District Council and BID Leamington, then select the winner.

Councillor Sarah Boad, Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa, said:

“The Christmas light switch-on is always a special occasion in Leamington, bringing residents together to celebrate the start of the festive season.

“This year, I’m particularly looking forward to sharing the stage with a person, family, community groups or organisation who have helped make our town a better place. We want to hear about those who have gone the extra mile and made a real difference.

“I hope people will take the opportunity to nominate someone deserving and help us recognise their contribution with a special moment as we celebrate Christmas in Leamington.”

Councillor Ella Billiald, Portfolio Holder for Arts & Economy, said:

“There are lots of unsung heroes out there, making a positive impact in the community. We would love to hear your nominations so that we can give thanks to an individual or group who brightens up the town throughout the year.”

Previous guests to switch on the lights include Commonwealth Games medallists Lauren Cox and Lewis Williams; Wednesday actor Moosa Mostafa; and local businessman and barber, Tony Eden.
