Warwick District Council and its partners are celebrating another year of achieving Green Flag status for four local parks and green spaces in the district.

Leading the way is Jephson Gardens, which celebrates an impressive 20th consecutive year of holding Green Flag status, with the Pump Room gardens marking its 5th successive award.

The nature reserves at Crackley Wood and Oakley Wood have secured their 9th and 10th consecutive awards respectively. Both of nature reserves are managed in partnership with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.

In other good news, both Jephson Gardens and the Pump Room Gardens have once again achieved Green Heritage Site Accreditation in association with Historic England for the conservation of the historic features within the two parks.

Councillor Will Roberts, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services at Warwick District Council said:

“We’re delighted to receive the internationally recognised Green Flag Awards from Keep Britain Tidy once again; this is a fantastic achievement and one that we don’t take for granted. These awards recognise and highlight that local people and visitors to Warwick District are benefitting from green spaces of the very highest quality.

“This is thanks to the huge efforts of the Council’s Green Spaces Team, contractors (idVerde) and the great partnership we have with the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust as well as the amazing work of the volunteers from the Friends of Oakley Wood and Crackley Wood.

“I would also like to recognise the significance of the Green Heritage Site Accreditation for Jephson Gardens and the Pump Room Gardens, which is testament to the huge amount of work and planning that goes on behind the scenes to ensure that the history and beauty of these much-loved public spaces are preserved and showcased for us all to enjoy.”
