Residents in Warwick District have successfully clicked their way to raising £1000 for local charities.
Thanks to an innovative scheme made available through the Council’s waste and recycling contractor Biffa.
Twelve months ago, Biffa made a pledge to donate 10p to Warwick District Council’s Chairman’s chosen charities each time a search on how to recycle a household item was made on the WDC mobile app. Now one year later the target has been reached and £500 has been contributed towards the work of both The Myton Hospices and Multiple System Atrophy Trust.
Cllr Rob Margrave, Chairman of Warwick District Council (2024/25) commented:
“This is a wonderful example of how small actions can make a big difference. Thank you to everyone who has used the app and supported recycling in our district and also to Biffa who have made the donation to these wonderful charities possible.”
Biffa’s Operations Manager for Warwick, Terry Moosab, added:
“We’re really pleased that this campaign has gone so well. The mobile app is a fantastic help with checking what to do with your recycling. We’re more than happy to have funded the donation to the two charities to help promote this.”
As well as recycling information, Warwick District Councils’ mobile app offers information on waste collection days, reminders, reporting a missed bin and other Council services.
