Improvements to Priory Road car park in Warwick have increased parking capacity by 17 spaces, as well as introducing 2 disabled parking spaces and a dedicated area for cycle parking.

The Council’s Assets team identified the potential to increase the parking provision in the car park by removing ten old and underused garages on the site. Following their demolition, the car park was relined to increase the available parking spaces, as well as the addition of cycle parking.

Further improvement works including new fencing, resurfacing, and the installation of a litter bin have recently been completed.

The works were enabled by the Council’s Change Programme, which explores creative and innovative ways to improve Council services.

Councillor Will Roberts, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood, said:

“It’s fantastic to see how much the car park has improved and my thanks go to the Assets and Parking teams for their work on this. Not only have we increased parking provision, but we’ve also provided a safe and secure place for people to store their bikes.

“Priory Road car park is in a great location for the many shops and independent businesses on Smith Street and St John’s, as well as being a short walk from the town centre or the beautiful Priory Park.

“Our Parking team remain committed to looking after our off-street car parks across the district, serving both our town centres and parks - improving safety and managing the increasing demand for parking provision.”
