As part of the national Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre – which is managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Warwick District Council – will offer, accompanied by free lunches.

Suitable for those aged four and over, the climbing wall sessions are led by qualified coaches and use an auto-belay, meaning climbers just need to be fitted with a harness, then can clip on and climb to explore different routes.

Clip n Climb offers a fun challenge and helps build strength in children, while keeping them active in a social, warm environment.

Sessions will take place at 11am on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 December, and then on Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 December.

Every session will include a free nutritious and balanced lunchtime meal.

Alex Fuoco-Lang, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “Being part of the national HAF programme is so important to us because it offers children of all ages, abilities and backgrounds the opportunity to stay active in fun ways at a time of year when families might be feeling the pinch.
“We’re inviting children across the Warwick District to come along and join us for some brilliant Clip n Climb sessions that where they can make new friends and boost their activity levels over the winter holiday season.”

Councillor Jim Sinnott, Portfolio Holder for Safer, Healthier and Active Communities, added: “It’s fantastic to be able to provide the youngsters with these free ‘Clip n Climb’ sessions, accompanied by free lunches. This no doubt offers parents a break, while giving the children some much needed exercise and enjoyment while off school for the Christmas period.”

School children from Reception to Year 11 in receipt of benefits related to free school meals are eligible for HAF sessions. Parents and guardians of eligible children are encouraged to register on this website.
