Dear Residents of Warwick District,

It is with profound sadness that we, at Warwick District Council, extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends affected by the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, India, on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The devastating loss of at least 270 lives, including 241 passengers and crew on board and others on the ground, has left communities across the world in mourning, including those here in Warwick District with connections to the victims.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and with the families of the 53 British nationals who lost their lives. We share in your grief and stand in solidarity during this time of immense sorrow. The courage of the sole survivor, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh from Leicester, and the stories of those lost remind us of the fragility of life and the importance of community support.

Warwick District Council joins the nation in honouring the memory of those lost. We also commend the efforts of the Indian authorities, emergency services, and international investigators working to provide answers and assistance to those affected.

Councillor Naveen Tangri
Chairman, Warwick District Council
