100% have completed training

Warwick District Council is very pleased to announce that 100% of licensed hackney carriage and private hire drivers have now completed child sexual exploitation (CSE) awareness training.

Drivers have commented how useful the training has been and that as a result they have a much better understanding of what to look for and what to do if they feel something isn’t quite right. Introduced following the Rotherham child abuse scandal (where it was reported that 1,400 children were exploited). Warwick District Council is the first local authority in Warwickshire to make CSE training mandatory.

Councillor Moira-Ann Grainger the Portfolio Holder for Health and Community Protection said: "Warwick District Council is committed to protecting the public, especially children who may be vulnerable to abuse. I am extremely pleased that the taxi operators have supported these requirements. A number of reports have already been made which have resulted in enhancing the safety of our children and young people."

If anybody is concerned about a child being abused they should report it by calling 01926 684 490. More information is available on the Something’s Not Right website.
