81 new council homes at Sayer Court

Sayer Court, Warwick District Council’s development of 81 new council homes was officially opened on 30th January. The ground breaking £13 million scheme on the Tachbrook Road in Leamington has seen the creation of 76 one and two bedroom apartments for the over 55s and five bungalows on the site of Fetherston Court.

The development was opened by Kate Sayer, the daughter of former Leamington resident Malcolm Sayer, the designer of the Jaguar E-Type. Kate was joined by residents of Sayer Court, pupils from St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School who won a competition to name the new development, councillors and officers from Warwick District Council and representatives from Pick Everard and Willmott Dixon.

Councillor Peter Phillips, Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing and Property Services said "These beautiful high quality, energy efficient, sustainable and most importantly affordable homes which have been developed by Warwick District Council have set the benchmark for the future of council housing in our district if not nationwide."

The Chair of Warwick District Council Jane Knight added "I’m delighted to see the successful completion of this project to replace the outdated Fetherston Court with such a wonderful modern development, which reflects Leamington’s Regency architecture. I hope the new Sayer Court residents are enjoying the light, warmth and comfort of their new homes."
