A project which has seen a unique public/private sector collaboration to enable the building of 620 homes at Stoneleigh View in Kenilworth has been shortlisted for a national housing award.

The partnership between Warwick District Council, Local Housing Company Milverton Homes and Countryside Partnerships, the UKs leading mixed-tenure developer, is providing the local area with a mix of high quality, sustainable, affordable and private homes.

Once complete, these homes will be offered for private sale, private rent, as council homes (at social or affordable rent) or for shared ownership. Half of the properties at Stoneleigh View, including the Council and private rental homes, will benefit from advanced building fabric efficiencies including air source heat pumps and solar panels, giving them a net-zero carbon rating.

Warwick District Future Homes Partnership is now in the running for an Inside Housing Development Award, with the results announced at a ceremony in London in September.

Councillor Paul Wightman, Warwick District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing, said: “The Council is working hard to meet the housing needs of a growing population. It is therefore really positive that our strategic partnership work to enable the creation of high quality, affordable and energy efficient homes in an area where house prices are above the national average and private rentals are in short supply has been recognised.”

Lisa Barker, Chair of Milverton Homes, said: “Working in this partnership has allowed us to create the conditions needed for investment and skills needed to deliver high-quality and energy efficient homes to a broad range of customers including those seeking rental properties, helping to transform our local community. We are therefore delighted to have been shortlisted for this award.”

Adam Daniels, Divisional Managing Director, Midlands, Countryside Partnerships added: “We are thrilled that such an important partnership has been recognised in this way. Together we are building a sustainable community, which is built to last and will seamlessly integrate with the surrounding area using high quality design, construction and management, to create a positive legacy for future generations.”
