Walking and Cycling

Warwick district has some beautiful scenery, and as giving an excuse to get outdoors and being more environmentally friendly, according to the NHS, cycling has numerous health benefits such as reducing the risk of developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and strokes. It can also help boost your mood and maintain a healthy weight.

If you are new to cycling, and are looking for more information, visit Warwickshire County Council's website to find out more through cycle route maps and travel guides. Cycle parking maps can be found on our website. There are separate maps for Warwick, Leamington Spa and Kenilworth.

You may want to consider carsharing and there is a local car-share scheme run through Liftshare.com to find local car sharers. This helps to reduce the number of cars on the road and saves money! Alternatively, if you work within a large organisation, you may want to set-up a specific scheme of your own to car share to work with your colleagues.

Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP)

Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) are a 10-year strategic approach to cycling and walking improvements. They form part of the Government’s strategy to increase the number of trips made on foot or by cycle and our local one has been produced by Warwickshire County Council.

Electric Vehicles

  • Warwick District Council (WDC) and Stratford-upon-Avon District Council (SDC) have been working together looking at the future for EV Infrastructure across South Warwickshire. We commissioned Cenex to produce a Feasibility Study which was completed in 2024, allowing us to fully understand what is needed across Warwick District and Stratford District.
  • WDC & SDC are working closely with Warwickshire County Council (WCC) to ensure that the responsibilities that both tiers of governance have towards EV infrastructure is joined up and seamless. We are actively pursuing the procurement of an EV Charger Provider for our off-street public car parks across South Warwickshire.
  • The Energy Saving Trust (EST) provides a useful guide to Electric Vehicles and provides useful links to other information: Energy Saving Trust – Electric Vehicles
