Allotments and community food growing areas

Within the plans for the country park 2.75 hectares (almost 7 acres) of land has been allocated for food growing space.

A portion of this land will be divided into traditional allotments (in the north and south of the park shown on the masterplan). These have been designed to be accessible particularly to local residents but will not access the core of the park. Fencing and screening will be part of their creation.

Orchards provide a different type of area which is open to country park users. They have the added benefit of bringing different tree species to the landscape as well as free fruit!

Options are also being considered for the development of shared growing areas which could include community growing plots and/or school growing areas

More details of these will be provided once as our plans progress.
