Facilities planned within the park
Play areas
Following a review of the existing and proposed play areas in the surrounding area, it was found that the District offers a good range of traditional play equipment for younger children. Plans are therefore in place for the country park to provide local people with something a bit different that is in keeping with the more rustic and rural feel of a country park.
Two play areas will be incorporated into the new park. Both will be designed to take inspiration from the natural landscape, creating spaces that feel adventurous, imaginative which blend into their surroundings.
Play Area 1 will be located in the east of the country park, near to the main entrance of Oakley School. This will be the larger play area. It will have a target age of ‘tots to teens’ and will include some accessible features and equipment.
Play area 2 will be located in the north-west of the country park (Heathcote area). This is a smaller site compared to Play Area 1 and is designed to provide a natural play experience with a target age range of eight plus.
Refreshment facilities
In the east side of the site, close to one of the park entrances we plan to locate a refreshment hub. This will provide a site for a seasonal, mobile refreshment facility where light refreshments will be available. It will operate during daylight hours.
Other facilities
The park will include all the usual park “furniture”, such as benches, picnic tables, litter and dog bins.
