Description
This is an unusual, graceful form of beech. In winter its long thin buds make it easy to identify as a beech, and in the autumn there are usually lots of small triangular nuts in prickly cases, known as beech mast. There is a weeping fern leaved beech on the Newbold Terrace side of the gardens.
