Description
Look at the colourful bark of this spreading tree, with its patches of orange. The autumnal leaves turn a deep red, really brightening this end of the gardens. In Korea the tree was considered a symbol of protection for villages and many there are well over 500 years old. The Water Elm also offers protection against ‘Dutch Elm’ disease and is often a similar species planted to the more susceptible American Elm.
