Net Zero Carbon Development Plan Document (DPD)

The Net Zero Carbon DPD was submitted to the Secretary of State, through the Planning Inspectorate, on 17th October 2022. An independent examination will be undertaken into the soundness and legal compliance of the Plan.

The Local Plan sets out a commitment to drafting two Development Plan Documents (DPDs):

  • Canalside DPD
  • Gypsy and Traveller DPD

Canalside DPD

The Regulation 19 consultation on the draft Canalside DPD ran between 09 November and 21 December 2020.  This consultation was concerned with the legal compliance and soundness of the draft plan, and followed a previous consultation on the scope and content in 2019 (see table below on the evolution of the DPD).

Warwick Castle Masterplan

The Guiding Principles set out in Chapter 7 of the Warwick Castle Masterplan to inform future development on the site, in line with Local Plan Policy CT6, were adopted by Executive Committee on 12 February 2020.

Gypsy and traveller DPD

This DPD will allocate land for both permanent and transit sites to meet the needs identified in the Council’s Gypsy & Traveller Accommodation Assessment (GTAA).

As part of the process of developing the Local Plan, a number of steps were undertaken to identify how the needs of the Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Show communities could be met. A summary of those steps can be found below.
