Feel

Sensory stroll feel

You’ve found the 'Feel Panel' on the Priory Pools Sensory Trail. Great exploring!

Nature is full of amazing textures. Some are smooth, some are rough, some might even tickle your fingers!

đŸŒŋ Touch and Tell

  1. Close your eyes and find three things around you.
  2. Use your hands to explore safely, then describe what you feel.
  3. Is it rough or smooth? Warm or cool? Hard or soft?
  4. Now swap guesses with someone you’re with, can they tell what it was from your clues?

(Remember to only touch natural things that are safe and within reach. Avoid stinging nettles or anything sharp.)

🍂 Texture Treasure Hunt

Can you find:

  1. A leaf that’s smooth
  2. Bark that’s bumpy
  3. A twig that’s bendy
  4.  A stone that’s cold

How many different textures can you collect in five minutes?

You could take photos or draw them in a notebook to make your own texture map of the park.

đŸĒļ Hidden Patterns
Look very closely at something natural nearby, maybe a leaf, a feather, or even a puddle.

  • What tiny patterns can you see?
  • Lines, circles, swirls or spots

Everything in nature has its own secret design!

💡 Did You Know?
Trees have rings just like fingerprints. No two trees grow in exactly the same way, so each trunk tells a different story about sunshine, rain and time.

❤ī¸ Try This at Home

  1. Find a few different natural objects - a pine cone, a pebble, a leaf.
  2. Place them in a small bag and take turns guessing what they are by touch alone.
  3. No peeking! It’s a fun game that helps you use your senses in a whole new way
