Every 2 years we bring out works from the store and replace pictures that need a rest with other items from the collection. This display is very special, as it looks forward to 2028 when Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum celebrates its 100th anniversary.
But who decides what goes on display? Many of the artworks you will see were selected by pupils from Our Lady and St Teresa’s Primary School, members of FLAG (Friends of Leamington Art Gallery) and our Visitor Experience Assistants.
What you will see: The first painting to enter the collection, entitled Three Generations by Sarkis Katchadourian will be on display alongside visitor favourites such as Winter’s White Silence by Lucy Kemp-Welsh and a new acquisition by Terry Frost.
The display also includes a Memory Trail designed to trigger memories with fun activities to enjoy. These pictures have been specifically chosen for our older visitors and are a dementia-friendly resource but are also a great way for everyone to connect and start a conversation about what you see.
The Main Gallery opens fully on Tuesday 3 November: look, explore and tell us about your favourite painting!
