Sewers

Severn Trent sewer transfer

In 2011 the ownership of private sewers and lateral drains (which connect to the public sewer system) in Warwick district transferred from the property owner’s responsibility to the responsibility of Severn Trent Water. Privately owned pumping stations which meet the same criteria were adopted by Severn Trent Water on 1 October 2016.

Where to direct enquiries

Since the 1 October 2011 the majority of private drainage enquiries now need to be directed to Severn Trent Water who will look to resolve enquiries regarding all sewers and drains outside of property boundaries. However, homeowners are still responsible for the private drains within their boundary, which are not shared with other properties.

If your enquiry is due to a blocked (or damaged) sewer or a broken manhole cover then please call Severn Trent Water’s 24/7 call centre on 0800 783 4444 who will be able to assist.

Public sewers and maps

All sewers that have been adopted by the Severn Trent Water Company are their sole responsibility. Maps of drains are available from Severn Trent Water.
