The Local Plan (1996 - 2011) is a land use plan which controls the location and nature of new development within the district. It contains policies and maps showing designations and allocations, and is primarily used to determine planning applications.
Please note a New Local Plan is currently being prepared to replace this Local Plan.
The Warwick District Local Plan is available to view below and was adopted on the 21st September 2007.
The Council subsequently adopted amendments to the Local Plan in accordance with the High Court decision dated 15th December 2008. These amendments are as follows:
- Proposals Map, Part 5 Kenilworth: removal of Green Belt designation from an area of land bounded by Common Lane to the south; and the operational and disused railway lines to the east and west respectively (referred to locally as the ‘Crackley Triangle’);
- Chapter 9, paragraph 10: deletion of the following words: ‘at the triangle of land bordered by Highland Road, and Woodland Road in Kenilworth,’ A plan showing the changes to Part 5 of the Proposals Map is available to download.
In addition, a number of the Local Plan policies expired (15kb, PDF) on September 20th 2010 and can no longer be used. These policies have been struck through in the version below. The remaining policies are 'saved' for use by the Council in taking planning decisions until such time as they are replaced.
For information on how the Local Plan was prepared by the Council see the Preparation of the Local Plan page.
