Food caddy

Compost logo

Food waste can be wrapped in newspaper or contained in a compostable caddy liner or any type of plastic bag (including old bread wrappers, cereal packets, used sandwich bags etc) before placing in your 23 litre food waste bin, or communal food waste bin (coming soon). All liners and bags are removed before processing and are sent to energy from waste.

You can also use your own indoor container — do whatever works for you.

Using a caddy

1. Place a compostable caddy liner or any type of plastic bag in the food waste caddy, or line with newspaper.

Communal food waste collections

Alongside all other local authorities in England, Warwick District Council is required to introduce new food waste recycling collections for all communal properties in the area, in line with new government legislation.

This means that all communal properties will shortly be provided with one or more communal food waste bins (either a brown 140L wheelie bin or a smaller 23L caddy).

These are to be kept in bin store areas or somewhere appropriate close by. Our team have visited all properties to assess where the bins could go and where we were unsure, this was resolved with the appropriate managing agent.

We are contacting communal properties directly with information on how to order a kitchen caddy.

  • Communal food waste bin will be emptied weekly
  • It’s the responsibility of the managing agent/landlord to clean the external communal bin
