We’re lighting things up this autumn with Spark: Scratch Night! A brand-new event celebrating local creativity and fresh ideas.

Following the success of our Ignite Summer Socials, the scratch night offers a stage for artists to share new work in progress,  from theatre and dance to music, spoken word, and digital art.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all that shared the call out and applied.

How it Works

Never been to a Scratch Night before? Don’t worry we’ll walk you through it!

The evening features four sharings of work from a mix of local artists. After each sharing, there’ll be a chance for the audience to chat with the artists about what they’ve seen. Offering feedback, thoughts, or just curiosity about the creative process.

Prefer to simply watch and soak it all in? That’s absolutely fine too! There’s no pressure to take part in discussions you can just sit back and enjoy.

Some artists may also have a few questions for the audience to think about before or after their piece. This evening is about conversation, networking, and seeing ideas develop!

The Programme

Title of Work: Pop is History
Artform: Dance/Theatre
A pop odyssey! A rollercoaster ride through every million-selling single in UK chart history… all 180 of them. This bold exploration reflects on why these hits resonated, whether they’ve stood the test of time, and whether another million-selling song is still possible. Shaped by community consultation, the project is now ready to share new work with audiences to gather feedback and strengthen connections within Warwickshire’s creative community.

Title of Work: Summer and Mr Crow
Artform: Acoustic Music
A sharing of two original songs one reflecting on Summer as a metaphorical lover, the other exploring mortality in Meeting Mr Crow. Andrew is seeking exposure for his material, as well as opportunities for collaboration and networking.

Title of Work: We Want a Camel on Buckley Road
Artform: Spoken Word
A new spoken word piece celebrating both historical and contemporary Lillington, including Lillington Brickworks, Oliver Cromwell’s reputed overnight stay, the local library, chip shop, Valley Road roundabout, and more. Blending wit, seriousness, and diverse poetic styles. Matt is looking to try out this work and explore potential local collaborations to develop it further.

Title of Work: A Collection of Scenes from Circus Carcass
Artform: Film
A series of scenes from an experimental feature film about clowns, set in a surreal landscape reminiscent of Wonderland. The sharing invites conversation and connection with local creatives, gathering feedback on the film’s experimental elements and atmosphere, while offering a chance to experience other art being created in the area.
