Play area improvements
Play area improvements enhance the quality and range of play equipment in a number of our neighbourhood parks.
Planned improvements
Warwick District Council is excited to announce that works to install new play areas at Castle Farm, Kenilworth and Mill Gardens in Leamington Spa will begin in autumn 2025. Designed with feedback from Evergreen School and in partnership with play design experts, incorporating new equipment for all ages from tots to teens, the new areas will bring the community a whole new play experience to aid learning, social mobility and inclusivity.
CASTLE FARM
The existing Castle Farm play area will be closed from Monday 8 September 2025 and will remain so until the new installation is completed, tested and ready for use. Extensive works on site will encompass improvements to the drainage to accommodate the new play equipment, enhanced safety surfacing as well as additional provision/zoning for access needs. The following nearby facilities are available during the closure;
- Abbey Fields Play Area, Abbey Fields
- Glendale Avenue Play Area, Glendale/Redfern Avenue
- St John’s Play Area, Guy Road
- The Skate Park will remain open for use during the works.
- Access to the Leisure Centre, Scout and Guide HQ and playing fields will not be affected.
MILL GARDENS
The existing Mill Gardens play area will be closed during September 2025 (date to be confirmed) and will remain so until the new installation is completed, tested and ready for use. Extensive works on site will encompass landscaping improvements to accommodate the new play equipment, enhanced safety surfacing as well as additional provision/zoning for access needs. The following nearby facilities are available during the closure;
- Victoria Park Play Area, Archery Road
- Eagle Recreation Ground, Aylesford Street
- Newbold Comyn Play Area, Newbold Comyn Country Park
- Access to Leam Boats, the Mill Bridge and Jephson Gardens will not be affected.
For their safety, members of the public are asked not to enter either of these construction sites while these works are in progress. Security measures will be in place.
