Recycling bin

Your 240 litre recycling bin will be collected every fortnight – check the collection calendar for your collection day.

What you can put in your blue-lidded bin

  • paper
  • card and cardboard
  • glass bottles and jars
  • metal tins and cans
  • Aerosols
  • clean foil
  • plastic bottles, pots, tubs, and trays
  • food and drink cartons (TetraPak)

Place these items next to your bin in a bag:

  • textiles
  • household batteries
  • small electrical items

What not to put in the blue-lidded bin

  • Food waste
  • Nappies
  • Black bags and general rubbish
  • Plastic film from food containers

Extra recycling

If you have any extra recycling, then you will be able to either present the extra recycling in a cardboard box or your current red recycling box next to your blue lidded bin. If you have large cardboard boxes that will not fit in your bin, please flatten them and leave beside your recycling bin.

Properties that are unsuitable for wheeled bins can continue to use red recycling boxes. White bags are no longer accepted.

Report a missed bin collection

Please report a missed bin as soon as possible after 4pm on the day of collection. We aim to return within the next 2 working days, so please leave it out in its normal place for collection.

Bank holiday collections

Collections are made as normal on all bank holidays except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Please check your collection day above to find out your changes over Christmas.

Extreme weather disruption to services

During times of extreme weather such as snow, ice, extreme heat, etc. please check the waste collection service disruption page for any refuse and recycling service changes that become necessary.
