Call for work – Ceramics by makers from Warwick District

Ceramic artists and makers from Warwick District (Warwick, Leamington Spa, Whitnash, Kenilworth and surrounding rural areas) are invited to submit proposals for work to be shown at the Royal Spa Centre and/or sold at the Royal Pump Rooms alongside the forthcoming exhibition Making Histories. Making Histories will include contemporary and historic ceramics, and will be held at Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum, 20 March-14 June 2020.

Proposals may be for decorative and/or functional objects, including tableware and objects for the home, jewellery and accessories, or sculpture. Submissions should meet the following briefs:

One to three display pieces which say something about you and your practice.

The display will be at the Royal Spa Centre. This is a busy environment; all work will be protected by a Perspex cover but is shown at the artist’s risk.

The works can have a maximum height of 50cm. They will be shown on a plinth with a maximum display area size of 50x50cm.

They will not be for sale.

If selected, you will be asked to provide a photograph of yourself and some brief accompanying information about yourself and your work. This will be used in the interpretation which will be shown alongside the display.

AND/OR

Ten to fifteen smaller/functional/decorative pieces.

These will be sold through the shop at the Royal Pump Rooms on a sale or return basis. Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum’s commission is 30%. You must be able to accept payment via Paypal.

If selected, you will be asked to provide a photograph of yourself and some brief accompanying information about yourself and your work. This may be displayed in the shop, and/or a short version may be given to purchasers.

Please send up to three images and a brief outline of your proposed work to submissions@warwickdc.gov.uk by 17 January 2020. A selection will be made by 24 January, and work will need to be completed and delivered by 28 February 2020.
