Art activities at home for adults

Art at home is a series of online activities that adults can follow along with at home!

You can take part in these art activities by visiting our social media pages and visiting our YouTube channel. You can also tune back into this page after the session and we will upload the videos here for you to watch and enjoy in your own time.

Saturday 2nd May - 10am: Art at home: Make your very own patterned plate!

  • Clay
  • Wooden rolling pin
  • A piece of old cloth e.g. a pillow case
  • Paper to make a template from
  • An old toothbrush
  • Tools such as a knife to cut clay
  • Old plastic bowl
  • Leaves/ string or anything you can make an indented pattern with

Saturday 25th - 10am: Art at home: An introduction to slab building

This week, Sally will be showing you the basics of slab building. Make sure to tune into our YouTube at 10am on Saturday 25th to see the video first!

You will need;

  • Clay
  • Wooden rolling pin
  • A piece of old cloth e.g. a pillow case
  • Paper to make a template from
  • An old toothbrush
  • Tools such as a knife to cut clay

Saturday 18th - 10am: Art at home: Apple Pinch Pots

This week, Sally will be showing you how to make an apple pinch pot!

You will need;

  • Clay 
  • Tray
  • Old knife
  • Cup of water 
  • String or nylon wire 
  • Old tooth brush 
  • Old sheet or table cloth 
  • Sponge or cloth

Saturday 11th - 10am: Art at home: Pinch Pots

Join Sally Larke as she shows you how to create pinch pots using your clay skills gained from the previous week! Pinch pots are not just for kids!

You will need;

  • Clay 
  • Tray
  • Old knife
  • Cup of water 
  • String or nylon wire 
  • Old tooth brush 
  • Old sheet or table cloth 
  • Sponge or cloth 

Saturday 4th - 10am: Art at home - Clay on a tray!

Join our Learning and Engagement Officer, Sally Larke, as she walks you through an introduction to Pottery! To get you in the mood for the session, we reccomend you watch our Making Histories exhbition preview, and also, The Great Pottery Throwdown on Channel 4oD.
