Museums at Night: First World War - Sing for your Supper
Date: 26th October 2018
Location: Art Gallery & Museum
Time: 19:30 - 23:00
‘Museum’s at Night’ is back by popular demand! Join us for our evening event at the Art Gallery & Museum with a fish and chip supper!
The Museums at Night event is a UK-wide twice yearly festival of late openings and special events taking place in museums, galleries and historic spaces and we will be taking part by hosting a special event to coincide with the current First World War exhibition, Are You In This? Leamington Spa in The Great War.
There will be a complimentary glass of Prosecco and nibbles on arrival while you listen to a professional pianist in our foyer. Our curators will then be giving tours of the exhibition Are You In This?
Our compère will lead you through to the Assembly Rooms where Royal Spa Brass will be performing music from the era. Tables of 10 will be laid out for groups to enjoy a quiz about our exhibition and poppy corsage crafts before enjoying a fish and chip supper or halloumi and chips for vegetarians. The supper will be freshly delivered from award winning chip shop, St Johns in Warwick. Tables will include 2 complementary bottles of wine and there will be a bar selling beer, wine and soft drinks. A dessert trolley including cakes from the era will be available after the main.
There will be a small charity auction of promises.
The night will finish off with poetry read by Alan Sharif and a community sing along with the pianist with songs such as 'Oh! It's a lovely war!'
This is a fundraising event for the Art Gallery & Museum with proceeds going towards children's workshops and projects such as a Dementia Cafe.
Cost: £30 per person (ticket includes fish and chip supper and complimentary drinks)
