This will allow communities to come together and support both the national team and their local hospitality businesses.

The Council has been in communication with local MPs and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) about this issue, as the current legislation does not allow the Council any flexibility in accepting a Temporary Event Notice outside of the prescribed notice requirements.

The Council will be writing to its local MPs next week to seek their support for changes to the Licensing Act 2003 that would give Councils limited discretion to support local businesses during major national events, while maintaining local safeguards.
