Some of the rules on what you can and cannot do changed on 17 May. You can meet outdoors in a group of up to 30, and you are encouraged to exercise caution and consider the government guidance on risks associated with COVID-19 and actions you can take to help keep you and your loved ones safe.
Our green spaces remain open for you to use, and outdoor facilities have re-opened.
To stay safe, you must:
- take hygiene precautions when you are outside
- wash your hands as soon as you are back indoors
- take hand sanitiser with you when you set off in case there are no handwashing facilities
- exercise caution and consider the government guidance on risks associated with COVID-19
What's open:
- All parks and green space
- Cafes at Jephson Gardens, Victoria Park and St. Nicholas park and take away refreshments at Abbey Fields.
- Toilets in Abbey Fields, St. Nicholas Park, Victoria park and Jephson Gardens
- Children’s play areas
- Skate/bike facilities
- Adult fitness equipment
- Tennis courts at Christchurch Gardens*, Abbey Fields, Victoria Park and St. Nicholas park
- Grass football pitches
- Multi use ball courts (fenced off tarmac areas for football and basketball)
* Christchurch Gardens tennis courts are open until 18 April where they will be closed for approximately 2 weeks for repainting
Play Areas
Play areas remain open. Please ensure you follow safe social distancing and follow the below safety information to allow everyone the chance to enjoy them:
- No food or drink in the play areas
- 10 minutes per piece of equipment
- Only family groups to use the equipment together
- Do not touch your face and clean your hands after playing on each piece of equipment
- Follow public health guidance for hygiene
- Please wait in a safe space until the item you want to use is free
- If the area is busy, please come back later
- Do not play or attend the park if you are self-isolating
