Warwick District Council Cultural Services realises the importance of safeguarding and protection. We have various procedures and policies in place, not only to protect the public but also staff working across a range of facilities and services. All our staff have been recruited and vetted in line with Warwick District Council recruitment guidelines. We are committed to the training and continued development of our staff. Various training opportunities are available including the opportunity for staff to attend the Warwickshire Safeguarding Children’s Board Level 1 Child Protection Awareness Raising Workshop.
Prevention and protection policy
We have in place a detailed policy which is updated approximately every 2 years. The next updated policy will be completed in autumn 2019. The policy covers a range of topics including: child protection procedures, vulnerable adult’s procedures, reporting accidents, photography, safeguarding training, recruitment, restraint guidelines and recognising abuse. In compiling and updating the policy we have taken advice from Warwickshire Safeguarding Children’s Board (WSCB) and they are satisfied that the procedures within the policy are consistent with the WSCB procedures. Warwick District Council is also a member of the WSCB.
Photography in public places and the law
We have written specific guidelines following consultation with various partners including Coventry Solihull & Warwickshire Sport and The Child Protection in Sport Unit. The guidelines have been written to assist and advise activity deliverers and organisers in Warwick District with photography law in public places e.g. parks and open spaces.
