HMO standards and licence conditions
All HMOs which are subject to Mandatory Licensing have a set of detailed generic conditions attached to their licences which regulate all aspects of health safety welfare and management.
It is proposed to require exactly the same conditions to all licences issued under an Additional Licensing Scheme. Those conditions were the subject of a public consultation in 2018, hence it is not proposed to consult on re-examining the licence conditions at this time.
All HMOs will be expected to comply with the national guidance on fire safety standards ‘LACORS Housing - Fire Safety’ and will be subject to the Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and the HMO Management Regulations.
We have produced a Guide to Houses in Multiple Occupation which provides further information on requirements and standards.
