Fit for the Future
Warwick District Council’s purpose is:
“To make Warwick District a Great Place to Live Work and Visit”.
To understand how effective we are being at delivering this purpose, Fit for the Future has been developed. This is a corporate plan which brings together the Council’s vision, purpose, values, strategies, plans and performance management regime so that the Council’s business can be managed in a joined-up and coherent fashion.
Fit for the Future sets out a radically different approach. The strategy is organised around systems thinking as an approach.
The basics of the systems thinking are as follows:
- Clarity of purpose in customers’ terms
- Taking the customer’s perspective
- Measuring what matters to the customer
- Design to deliver what matters to the customer
- Consider the whole system – end to end
In taking this approach and by applying it to range of projects which are set out in Fit for the Future, the Council believes it can meet the challenges it faces:
- Addressing the major financial challenges we face
- Reducing our costs whilst improving key services
- Developing a culture of continuous improvement
