Warwick District Council has announced voluntary organisations in the district that have been successful in securing contracts to deliver services to communities from 2012 – 2015.
The voluntary sector provides a wide range of services across the district from a dedicated workforce. Earlier this year the council consulted the public about the voluntary services they used to help understand which services were important and why.
Following on from this consultation, voluntary organisations completed a rigorous tendering questionnaire detailing what service they could provide for disadvantaged communities, the amount of funding they required, and describe how the service met local priority needs.
Councillor Moira-Ann Grainger, Portfolio Holder, Corporate and Community Services says, “Every voluntary organisation that submitted a bid for funding demonstrated a real commitment to the people they help and the service they provide. Our budgets are limited in the current economic climate, but we have pledged not to cut the voluntary sector contracts budget. In order to do this we had to be clear that the partner organisations we support through these contracts are providing a service that is responsive to our residents’ needs.”
Those organisations that have been successful will sign detailed delivery contracts by March this year and the new three year funding will start in April 2012.
Contracts were awarded through a tendering process to the highest scoring applicant in each advertised service area. Those organisations that were not successful submitted lower scoring bids. However the council does hold their work in high regard, and will offer training and support to help their development in the future.
