Coventry & Warwickshire Gateway

Warwick District Council has received a planning application for a major new Technology and Manufacturing / Distribution Park on land around Coventry airport. This proposal is being called the "Coventry & Warwickshire Gateway".

The application has been submitted by the Coventry & Warwickshire Development Partnership and is seeking planning permission to build on two areas of land (totalling 300 hectares (741 acres)) to the north, east and south of Coventry airport. When completed, the applicant considers that the Coventry & Warwickshire Gateway will provide up to 10,000 new jobs.

The site lies within Warwick district. However some of the highway works will be to the north of the A45 within Coventry city. These highway works will also provide improved access to existing employment land within Coventry city around the Jaguar Land Rover headquarters at Whitley. Development of this land will provide up to a further 4,000 jobs.

This is a major potential development within Warwick district, and the council will now be closely examining all of the extensive technical information that the applicant has submitted in support of the application. It is now consulting widely on the application, before the council’s Planning Committee formally considers it. All documents relating to the application are available online. Alternatively, all the details of the application can be viewed at the council’s offices.

The council hopes to be able to bring a report on the application to its Planning Committee before the end of the year.
