The aim of the Engineering service provided by the council is;
To provide a professional, cost effective and high quality Engineering Service that supports sustainable development, maintains safety and security in the public domain and delivers effective solutions to meet clients’ needs.
In achieving this aim, the service will strive to achieve excellence in standards of performance and compare with the best in all key areas. In order to achieve this, the service will be managed and resourced to ensure that we:
- review our policies and procedures regularly to ensure the most effective and efficient forms of service delivery are adopted
- commit to providing a responsive and accessible service for all customers that makes best use of information technology and meet the council's sustainability objectives
- consult customers and the local community to ensure that service delivery meets needs
- seek to make a difference in meeting the needs of the community by working to achieve Community Plan objectives, Corporate Policy and other identified community needs
- ensure that our decisions are made in a fair and transparent manner
- work to ensure that we provide value for money in everything that we do to ensure that a quality service is delivered in a cost effective way
- ensure that we have the well trained, highly motivated workforce necessary to deliver the Engineering Service
- Maintain a positive stance towards achieving equality and equal opportunities in employment and service delivery.
- To be flexible in our approach to changes within the Council
Key Service Outcomes
We take the view that the service should ultimately be about making a positive difference for the community, economy and environment in Warwick district. This is reflected in the service aim above. To ensure we do this we will focus our efforts on things that have been identified as important by the general public through the Community Plan and consultation views drawn from the Best Value Review in association with direction from the council's Corporate Strategy.
Our Key Service Outcomes will therefore be as follows:-
- To provide a quality design and construction service to meet council's corporate objectives.
- To assist in the management of district town centres and improve the attractiveness of public places.
- To maintain an effective, energy efficient and safe rural footway lighting service.
- To maintain an effective and safe bus shelter provision.
- Ensure that provision of new street furniture is undertaken with due regard for environmental consideration and ensure consistent standards of signage are achieved relative to usage.
- Promote cycling and walking in the council's public open spaces and other controlled land and where feasible, link with the safer routes to schools programme and major employment areas.
- To provide an effective maintenance service to ensure safe roadways, footways and cycleways within the council's property.
- To provide a Street Naming and Numbering service to ensure all properties in the district are registered with a house number, street address and postcode.
