Warwick District - Equality Scheme
The Council’s vision and commitment is to ensure equality of opportunity for all, including equality of access to those services we provide. In serving our community and in valuing the contribution of our work force, we aim to improve the quality of life and well being of the population. Warwick District Council's Equality & Diversity Scheme sets out the council’s position.
Warwickshire Race Equality Partnership (WREP)
WREP consists of voluntary, community and public sector members to work in partnership to tackle racial discrimination and promote race equality. Visit the Warwickshire Race Equality Partnership website for full details.
Refugees and asylum seekers
Asylum seekers are not normally eligible for housing and council tax benefit. Asylum seekers who have had their applications for asylum accepted are granted refugee status and become entitled to benefit in the normal way from the date their refugee status is confirmed.
However the rules concerning other people from abroad are complex and entitlement depends upon their circumstances. For further advice please email benefits@warwickdc.gov.uk or visit one of our offices.
Shelter, the housing and homeless charity, provide housing advice for asylum seekers and refugees.
