Moving Around the Map

There are various ways to move around the map:

  • Zoom In - Select this button to zoom in by a factor of two.
  • Zoom Area - Select this button then click and drag a box on the map by holding down the left mouse button. When finished, release the left mouse button and the map will redraw to the area specified.
  • Zoom Out - Select this button to zoom out by a factor of two
  • Zoom Previous - Takes the map back to its previous view.
  • Re-centre Map - Select this button then click on the map to re-centre the map at the position selected.
  • “Get Info” – Select this button and click on the property or graphic on the map. The details of that graphic will be shown on the “Map Query Results” tab. Once a property has clearly been identified on the map, clicking on the “Get Info” icon will also open up the property information page in a new window. You will then be able to view a range of property based data.
  • Quick help – Tips appear beneath the map and change when you select any of the above buttons.
  • Zoom to District - Selecting this prompt will re-draw the map to the full extent of the district.
  • Zoom to Parish - Select one of the parishes in this drop down list will re-centre the map to show the full extent of the selected parish.
  • Scale 1 - To change the scale that the map is viewed at either select a predefined scale from the drop down list, or click inside the box, and type in the scale you wish to view. Reducing the scale number will zoom in, and increasing the number will zoom out.

It is also possible to use the directional arrows around the outer edge of the map window to manually move around the map. Selecting an arrow will pan half a map window width in the chosen direction.

Printing

The current map can be printed using the print button:
Print - Clicking this button will open up a new window with the current map loaded, ready for printing. In addition, a title can be added by clicking on the named prompt and typing in the title.
